Schemes in the broadest sense are the overall direction you wish your team to follow. It defines the offensive and defensive philosophy of the team, and therefore it defines the players and their Archetypes that a given team wants to sign. Navigate the menu to the Team category, then the My Coach tile, then the Schemes option. There is also a tiny button with a puzzle piece icon on the Team screen of the menu that will lead to the same place.

On this screen, you can set your team's schemes for both offense and defense, and which playbooks your team uses on both sides of the ball. You can cycle through the available schemes and see which archetypes are preferred in any given position. This still affects a player's Overall rating in most views, but crucially his other Overall ratings are still shown in other views.

Schemes are mainly quality-of-life designations designed for long-term players who wish to truly build a team.

The most important part of a scheme is the Scheme Fit percentage, as you can see above. It lists how many players, including all players in a given depth chart, fit with what the scheme requires.

The individual position bars at the bottom show which positions may be lacking. Schemes can be changed any time between games without adverse effects. Players who fit within a scheme are not only better suited to doing what the scheme asks of them, but they will earn bonus XP in both Weekly Training and games.

This is especially true if training matches the scheme, such as if a cornerback scheme requiring man-to-man coverage and the cornerbacks participate in man coverage drills.

Players who do not fit the scheme will not earn bonus XP. An important symbol to know is the Scheme Fit icon, a white puzzle piece on a purple background. From the screenshot below, you can see which players fit the scheme for this practice and which ones didn't. Everyone else earned some bonus XP, but because they weren't Scheme Fits, they didn't earn nearly as much. The Scheme Fit icon will also appear on players' cards. The screenshot below shows the player card of Trey Hendrickson.

The purple Scheme Fit icon is next to the Speed Rusher archetype. We also see his adjusted Overall ratings depending on scheme. There are a couple icons here to make note of.

First, the hexagonal icon directly beneath Speed Rusher shows which archetype this player is considered. That is, if we viewed his name in a list such as in the Saints' overall rosterhe would be listed as a Speed Rusher. Any player who is within 3 points of the requested type compared to his highest overall is considered to be part of the scheme. That means if the scheme for this team is changed to one requiring a Power Rusher, Trey Hendrickson would no longer be considered Scheme Fit because his Power Rusher rating 66 is not within 3 points of his highest rating That said, players can change archetypes based on training.

If Hendrickson is manually leveled up enough times in the Power Rusher archetype, his Power Rusher overall may reach or overtake his Speed Rusher overall. In this way, players especially young ones who are trained in particular schemes for a long enough period can change their archetypes and what they can do.

Beyond that, when Scouting and conducting The Draftyou can look specifically for the archetypes that you desire. There is more subtlety to those systems beyond automatically drafting whoever fits your scheme, but there are more details of that on the The Draft page. Last Edited: 15 Aug pm. Popular Gameplans.Madden NFL 20 recently released and players across the globe are already trying to build the best Ultimate Team they can put together. The game mode is easily the game's most influential and profitable and it's no surprise that the developers provide numerous ways to acquire your favorite players via in-game currency, challenge rewards, or randomly in packs you can buy with real or in-game currency.

Whether you're new to the mode or a veteran player there are plenty of tips and tricks for building a better Ultimate team.

Before you begin to build the NFL team of your dreams it's best to come to an understanding with yourself. You should figure out if you don't already know, what type of play-style you enjoy most on both offense and defense. Understanding this will help you in targeting the specific types of players who will be most effective in your style of play. This doesn't only include the specific type of offense or defense you're running, but the type of player at a specified position.

Know yourself and you'll know your team. This may sound silly and might not make sense to some people, but the idea of 'look good, feel good, feel good, play good' is an idea that's been around for a while.

If you are playing Ultimate Team and it's starting to become tedious or boring you'd be amazed how much a jersey swap will do for your interest levels. Often staring at the same combination of colors can drive you mad, so if this starts to happen go into the lineup screen and find a new set of uniforms to give you a refreshing second wind.

Though this is at the beginning of the list, this may be the hardest thing for people to do.

Learn From The Pros.

When you're presented with a new pack that lets you select a player from several options you should also go with need over want. This is a hard thing to do when you have a shiny new receiver or quarterback staring you in the face. By picking the player you need you won't only make your overall team better, but it will help make the guys who are already on your team a lot better in the long run.

Chemistry is a tool in Ultimate Team that looks cumbersome and difficult at first glance but is pretty easy to get familiar with. Giving your players specific chemistry will often cost very few training points, and the bonuses you receive from have your starters all share the same chemistry is worth it.

The best part about getting higher overall players is that they'll often have the ability to have multiple chemistry types which will give your team more versatility and allow you to have multiple roster lineups ready to go at a moments notice. Whenever people play games that feature role-playing game elements they're either left with a ton of points they didn't spend, or they're full of regret for dumping them into something useless.

In Madden Ultimate Team you're going to have the ability to upgrade cards and improve overalls, but unless you're just giving a player chemistry, it's best to use upgrade points on purple cards that are specifically designated as upgrade cards.

These purple cards can improve their overall the most and often allow for the most customization in terms of chemistry and other traits. Many other tips and tricks on this list are non-bias and are based on logic and strategy in terms of getting the most bang for your buck in terms of coins and time investment.

This one is based on the idea of having a strong core that can make things easier.

After getting your hands on a solid quarterback, which we'll talk about next, you might want to work on both your offensive and defensive lines.Albums Screenshots Videos. Mattanite's Madden 20 Franchise Tips CAVEAT: This thread is always a work in progress and will be updated as new information comes out, game updates happen and also some of the information is only theoretical based on observation.

If a section of text is in a different colour, it will correspond with a change made after an update. On the surface there isn't very much change between Madden 19 and Madden 20 in terms of CFM, as the focus has apparently been on improving the on field product and reintroducing classic Superstar mode.

However, under the hood there have been a few tweaks to existing systems that change team building a lot and often in a good way. The key changes to CFM in Madden 20 can be summed up as so: Introduction of Abilities with changes to Dev levels Greater OVR spread, mostly for younger players Tweaks to XP and schemes Coach Schemes There have been a few tweaks to existing schemes and some new schemes introduced to flesh out the options available to coaches.

I think this is a good step as it creates a bit more diversity across a league.

It doesn't do very much except give you an indication of how efficiently you're working your weekly training which matters less this year - see above. I would recommend monitoring CPU rosters after a coaching change and moving players manually to make sense. Madden 20: Best Offensive & Defensive Playbooks

On defense, the Storm takes advantage on the fact there's an easier market for Zone DBs but also an easier market on front There's a real problem with the natural diversity of the coach schemes with a bit more diversity in terms of Playbooks. Not a single team uses the Spread, Run and Shoot or Pistol offensive schemes despite the Pistol looking like something out of the Ravens or Panthers.

Not a single team uses the Tampa2, 46 or Storm defensive schemes. Good scheme for outside runs and short bootleg throws. Good scheme for grinding inside runs and short play action throws. The set up has a dedicated blindside protector and an Agile OL vs Speed Defenses which buys time in the pocket for big pass plays downfield. This scheme is basically for if you hate running the ball behind the OL.

This is the Patriots basically The WR will get open quick on short passes with a checkdown back and an accurate QB who can bootleg to buy time and get better passing angles.

QB option and QB power plays ahoy!! But the combo of Agile OL, WR and Scrambling QB means this scheme is also built to buy time in the pocket and hit big WR with medium passes to keep defenses honest whilst trying to defend you run game.

The OL won't be good for grinding inside run plays but then won't give up much pressure up the middle and the OT will hold any power rush outside at bay. If the short passes are not there the QB can scramble but beware this scheme will get crunched by outside speed rushers. The slot CB and double hybrid safeties mean this DB corp will develop nicely to support the zone and man coverage game and able you to rotate either safety into the box for Cover1 and Cover3 looks.Choose a Savage Madden Membership Today!

One of our last free tips was a way to bomb cover 3 defenses from the Ace Slot formation. This time we take a look at how to do it from the Gun Tight Doubles formation. This is the formation that you will see run most times on stream and in videos from YaBoySavage.

In the video. You would think over the years that EA would have put some type of effort into making cover 3 useable. Unfortunately they have not and you can still bomb cover 3 defenses in one play in much the same fashion as previous years.

Thanks bro. SuperbowlBound Baby! Thanks Sav.This page presents some tips for finding the right playbooks for your playstyle in Madden NFL Although your personal playstyle should always be the main aspect to consider when choosing your playbooks, there are enough differences in the two modes that it may change your approach.

You can view the pages on Franchise Mode and Madden Ultimate Team for more details, but in short, your team and its composition changes much more quickly in MUT. In Franchiseevery team's default playbook is based around the real-life philosophies and player ratings of that team. With MUT, it will default to your chosen favorite team, and that may or may not gel with the team you've drawn from cards. Simply put: it's much easier to change the players around in MUT because you can acquire new cards through the Auction House or Trading Block.

In a realistic Franchise Modeit's more difficult to acquire many new players at once because of the salary cap and roster limit. Therefore, you can more easily quickly build a MUT team around your personal playstyle than you can in Franchise. In Franchise, you have to adjust to the playbook; in MUT, your playbook and team adjust to you. Even if you have no interest in playing Franchise Modeyou may want to enter a file anyway and go to the Schemes screen. To find it, navigate to Team, then My Coach, then the Schemes tile.

On this screen, you can adjust your Franchise team's playbook. The important feature here though is that the game will give you a short description of the playbook and its overall philosophy.

In Franchise Modeyou can change your playbook from this screen at any time. If you're just looking to learn what each playbook does, you can cycle through the entire list and read the descriptions there. Note that you only have access to the 32 team playbooks on both offense and defense in Franchise Mode. In Madden Ultimate Teamthere are playbooks not attached to teams. The overall philosophy of a generic playbook will be seen at the bottom of the card.

The highlighted card in the screenshot is a Cover 2 defense, which may or may not work with the rest of your team. Rather than focus on a specific playbook, the Playbook Concepts are the driving force of what plays are available. Finally if you want a more balanced attack that features both running and passing plays, our two picks for that would be the Giantswhich are going to rely heavily on the run with Saquan Barkley but are also built around a statue of a QB in Eli Manning, and the Saints which are the most effective balanced attack in the league.

The best defensive playbook in Madden 20 is always going to be dependent on what players you have and what you prefer. Whether or not you have players suited for a or scheme, and your personal preference on which of those two defensive schemes you want to run.

The difference is whether or not you want to have three defensive lineman and four linebackers or 4 defensive lineman and three linebackers If you have athletic, highly-skilled linebackers, opt for the If your strength is in your defensive line, then stick with the They have an extremely talented defensive line that can pressure the QB and stop the run, and they have some of best defensive backs in the league and can cover passes extremely well.

If that sounds like your team, they have a playbook built for it. There are so many different formations in the Ravens defensive playbook such as quarter packages designed to stop long passesaggressive blitz plays, and traditional base plays that leverage linebackers to stop the run.

Picking the right playbook can get quite complex. Your first stop should be this Wikipedia article which will give you the gist of what they all are. Pick the one that you know the best.
